Shuffle Lines

Randomly reorder the lines of a list, optionally with a seed so the same shuffle can be reproduced.

The same seed always produces the same order.

  3. 3The result updates as you type - there is no button to press.
  4. 4Copy the result to your clipboard or download it as a file.

About the Shuffle Lines

The shuffle is a Fisher-Yates pass, which gives every ordering the same probability - unlike sorting by a random key, which does not.

Supplying a seed makes the result reproducible. That is what you want when the shuffle has to be auditable, for example when assigning participants to groups.

Questions people ask

Is your text uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs, so your text never leaves your device. You can confirm it by opening your browser's network panel while the tool runs, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
