About the XML to YAML Converter

XML carries structure that JSON cannot: attributes alongside content, namespaces, and schema validation. It remains the format for RSS, SOAP, SVG, Office documents and most government data exchange.

YAML is written for people: comments, no brackets, and indentation instead of punctuation. It is the standard for Kubernetes manifests, CI pipelines and application configuration.

The document is parsed into a common structure and written back out as YAML, so the result is always syntactically correct even when the input was formatted unusually. Indentation is significant and tabs are forbidden. Unquoted values are type-guessed, which is how "no" becomes false and a version like 1.20 becomes the number 1.2.

Questions people ask

Is your document uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs, so your document never leaves your device. You can confirm it by opening your browser's network panel while the tool runs, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
