About the Image Histogram Viewer
The histogram counts how many pixels fall at each brightness level. A photograph with a good tonal range fills most of the width; one bunched at either end is under or over exposed.
Spikes at exactly 0 or 255 mean pixels have been clipped to pure black or pure white. That detail is gone and cannot be recovered by editing - only by re-shooting.
Questions people ask
Is your image uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs, so your image never leaves your device. You can confirm it by opening your browser's network panel while the tool runs, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
