About the Image Metadata Viewer
Photographs from a phone or camera carry a surprising amount: the make and model, the lens, the exposure settings, the date and time, the software used to edit it, and often the exact GPS coordinates where it was taken.
GPS coordinates are flagged explicitly, because publishing a photograph with them attached reveals where you were. Many platforms strip metadata on upload - but not all of them, and not always.
PNG and WebP files rarely carry EXIF at all, so an empty result is normal for those.
Questions people ask
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is decoded, processed and re-encoded by your own browser using the canvas API. You can watch the network panel while it runs, or disconnect from the internet after the page loads - the tool keeps working.
How do I remove this metadata?
Use the metadata remover, which re-encodes the pixels and drops every metadata block including GPS. The image looks identical and carries nothing about the camera or the location.
Is your image uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs, so your image never leaves your device. You can confirm it by opening your browser's network panel while the tool runs, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
