About the Make a Colour Transparent
Pixels within the tolerance distance of the chosen colour become fully transparent. Tolerance is measured as distance in RGB space, so raising it catches more nearby shades.
This works well on flat graphics, logos and screenshots. On a photograph it leaves a hard, jagged edge, because a photographic background is never one colour - proper background removal there needs edge detection, not colour matching.
Removing white from a JPEG logo usually needs a tolerance around 30, because JPEG compression leaves the "white" background slightly uneven.
Questions people ask
Is your image uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs, so your image never leaves your device. You can confirm it by opening your browser's network panel while the tool runs, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
