About the PNG to ICO Converter

An ICO is a container holding the same artwork at several sizes, so the operating system can pick the right one for a tab, a taskbar or a desktop shortcut without scaling.

Sizes from 16 to 256 pixels are included, each stored as a PNG inside the container - the compact form every browser since Internet Explorer 11 understands.

Start from a square source. A rectangular image is letterboxed rather than stretched, which leaves transparent bars at the sides.
