About the PNG to JPG Converter

JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas must be filled with something. The background colour you choose is composited underneath - without it, browsers default to black, which is where most "my transparent PNG went black" problems come from.

For photographs this typically cuts the file size by 80% or more at a quality setting that is visually indistinguishable.

Conversion happens entirely in your browser through the canvas API, so the image never leaves your device and the result appears as fast as your machine can decode and re-encode it.
