About the Sharpen an Image

Sharpening increases contrast at edges, which the eye reads as more detail. It does not add detail - nothing can recover information the image never had.

Overdone sharpening produces bright halos along edges and amplifies noise. A small amount after resizing down is the case where it genuinely helps.

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs, so your image never leaves your device. You can confirm it by opening your browser's network panel while the tool runs, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.
