About the PDF to JPG
Pages are rendered by pdf.js - the same engine Firefox uses to display PDFs - and encoded by your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Resolution drives both sharpness and file size, and the relationship is quadratic: going from 150 to 300 DPI quadruples the pixel count. 150 is right for screen use, 300 for print.
JPG has no transparency, so a page with a transparent background comes out white. Use PNG if that matters.
Up to 100 pages are rendered in one run, because each page is rasterised in memory.
Questions people ask
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The document is read and rewritten by JavaScript in your own browser. Nothing is transmitted, which is the only sensible arrangement for contracts, invoices, medical records and anything else people put in a PDF.
Why is the first run slower?
The PDF rendering engine is downloaded the first time a rendering tool is used, then cached. Subsequent pages and subsequent visits are much faster.
Is your document uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs, so your document never leaves your device. You can confirm it by opening your browser's network panel while the tool runs, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
