About the Split PDF

Three modes cover the cases people actually need: every page as its own file, fixed chunks for a system with an upload limit, and named ranges for splitting a report into its sections.

Ranges accept open ends - "13-" means from page 13 to the end - and a page that appears in two ranges appears in both output files.

Page content is copied rather than re-rendered, so each part is identical in quality to the original.

Questions people ask

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The document is read and rewritten by JavaScript in your own browser. Nothing is transmitted, which is the only sensible arrangement for contracts, invoices, medical records and anything else people put in a PDF.

What if my PDF is password protected?

Encrypted documents cannot be edited in the browser, and the tool says so clearly rather than failing with a confusing error. Remove the password in the application that created the file, then try again.

Is your document uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs, so your document never leaves your device. You can confirm it by opening your browser's network panel while the tool runs, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
