About the GIF to PNG Converter

Only the first frame is converted: a PNG cannot hold an animation. For animated GIFs, use the video tools to produce an MP4 or WebM instead, which are far smaller.

GIF is limited to 256 colours; the PNG will faithfully reproduce those, not add any back.

Conversion happens entirely in your browser through the canvas API, so the image never leaves your device and the result appears as fast as your machine can decode and re-encode it.
