About the Area Converter
Area factors are the square of the length factors, which is why an error compounds: a foot is about 0.3 metres, but a square foot is about 0.09 square metres.
An acre is 4,046.86 square metres and a hectare is exactly 10,000, so a hectare is roughly 2.47 acres. Both are still standard in land registration in different countries.
Every unit converts through a single base unit, so the arithmetic is one multiplication and one division - both shown in the working, along with the exact factor used.
