About the Volume Converter
US and imperial units share names but not sizes. A US gallon is 3.785 litres, an imperial gallon is 4.546 - about 20% larger. A US fluid ounce is slightly larger than an imperial one, which makes the gap even wider than it looks.
Both sets are listed separately here for that reason. A recipe that says "1 pint" means 473 ml in the United States and 568 ml in the United Kingdom.
Every unit converts through a single base unit, so the arithmetic is one multiplication and one division - both shown in the working, along with the exact factor used.
