About the Speed Converter
A knot is one nautical mile per hour, or exactly 1,852 metres per hour, which is why it is used in navigation alongside latitude.
Mach is not a fixed speed: it is the ratio to the local speed of sound, which falls with temperature. The figure here uses 340.29 m/s, the speed at sea level at 15 degrees Celsius.
Every unit converts through a single base unit, so the arithmetic is one multiplication and one division - both shown in the working, along with the exact factor used.
