About the Aspect Ratio Calculator

The ratio is reduced by the greatest common divisor, so 1920x1080 reports as 16:9 rather than 1920:1080.

Entering a new width or height gives the other dimension that preserves the ratio. That is the calculation behind resizing an image without stretching it.

The closest standard ratio is also named, which is useful when a size is almost but not quite 16:9 - usually a sign of a crop that was done by eye.
