About the Fraction Calculator
Simplifying divides both parts by their greatest common divisor, which is the one operation that leaves the value unchanged while reducing the numbers.
Converting a decimal uses a continued-fraction search for the simplest fraction within a millionth. That returns 1/3 for 0.333333 rather than 333333/1000000 - which is almost always what was meant.
The mixed number form is also shown, for the cases where a result like 3 1/4 reads better than 13/4.
