About the DOCX Table Extractor

Copying a table out of Word by hand loses the cell boundaries as soon as any cell contains a line break. Reading the table structure from the file does not have that problem.

Run it once to see how many tables the document contains, then pick the one you want by number.

Merged cells are flattened: a merged cell contributes its text once, to the row it starts in.

Questions people ask

Is my document uploaded?

No. A DOCX or ODT file is a ZIP archive of XML, and both are unpacked and read by your own browser. Nothing is transmitted, nothing is stored, and the tool works with the network disconnected once the page has loaded.

Does this work with .doc files from older versions of Word?

No. The old .doc format is a binary format with a completely different structure, and it is not readable this way. Save or convert the file as .docx first - Word, LibreOffice and Google Docs all do that.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
