About the Touch Support Tester
Many laptops report both a coarse and a fine pointer, because they have a touchscreen and a trackpad. Designing for "mobile or desktop" rather than for the capabilities actually present is what produces controls that are too small to tap on exactly those machines.
The `hover` media query is the more useful signal: a device that cannot hover needs its tooltips and dropdowns to work on tap.
