About the DOCX Metadata Viewer

Reads the core and extended property sets: title, subject, author, last editor, creation and modification times, revision number, editing time, and the application that produced the file.

The declared word and page counts are also shown. They are whatever the last application to save the file wrote there, which is not always current - the counted paragraph figure is measured from the document itself.

Questions people ask

Is my document uploaded?

No. A DOCX or ODT file is a ZIP archive of XML, and both are unpacked and read by your own browser. Nothing is transmitted, nothing is stored, and the tool works with the network disconnected once the page has loaded.

Does this work with .doc files from older versions of Word?

No. The old .doc format is a binary format with a completely different structure, and it is not readable this way. Save or convert the file as .docx first - Word, LibreOffice and Google Docs all do that.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
