About the DOCX to HTML Converter
Produces headings and paragraphs, and nothing else. Word's own HTML export is notorious for the volume of markup it emits - conditional comments, inline styles on every element, class names that mean nothing outside Word - and almost none of it survives a content management system.
Clean markup is far easier to paste into a CMS, style yourself, or check into a repository.
Images and tables are not carried across; the image extractor and the table extractor handle those separately and better.
Questions people ask
Is my document uploaded?
No. A DOCX or ODT file is a ZIP archive of XML, and both are unpacked and read by your own browser. Nothing is transmitted, nothing is stored, and the tool works with the network disconnected once the page has loaded.
Does this work with .doc files from older versions of Word?
No. The old .doc format is a binary format with a completely different structure, and it is not readable this way. Save or convert the file as .docx first - Word, LibreOffice and Google Docs all do that.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
