About the ODT Viewer
ODT is the OpenDocument format used by LibreOffice, OpenOffice and Google Docs exports. Like DOCX it is a ZIP archive of XML, so it can be read here directly.
The viewer shows text and headings. It renders in a sandboxed frame with no access to this page.
Questions people ask
Is my document uploaded?
No. A DOCX or ODT file is a ZIP archive of XML, and both are unpacked and read by your own browser. Nothing is transmitted, nothing is stored, and the tool works with the network disconnected once the page has loaded.
Does this work with .doc files from older versions of Word?
No. The old .doc format is a binary format with a completely different structure, and it is not readable this way. Save or convert the file as .docx first - Word, LibreOffice and Google Docs all do that.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
Yes, it is free, and there is no account, no sign-up and no watermark on the result. The project is funded by optional donations.
