About the VAT Calculator
VAT-inclusive prices are worked backwards by dividing by one plus the rate. At 20% that means dividing by 1.2 - the common shortcut of taking 20% off the total is wrong and understates the net amount.
Rates differ by country and by product category, and reduced or zero rates are common for food, books and childrens clothing. Enter the rate that applies to your goods rather than assuming the standard one.

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using standard web APIs, so your figures never leaves your device. You can confirm it by opening your browser's network panel while the tool runs, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.
